Location Collection
Plain-English explanation of when we do and don't access your location.
When Location is Collected
Location is only collected when you have an active trip AND sharing is enabled. We never track you in the background.

When Location is NOT Collected
We don't track your location outside of trips. The app does not access your location when idle or in the background.

Storage & Access
How Long Data is Stored
- Active trip data: During trip only
- Completed trips: 30 days (configurable)
- Location history: Auto-deleted after trip
- Account data: Until you delete it
Who Can See Your Data
- Only contacts you explicitly share with
- Only through links you create
- SafeTrip staff cannot see your location
- No data sold to third parties
How to Delete Everything
- Delete individual trips anytime

Our Privacy Promises
These are commitments we make to every SafeTrip user.
No Background Tracking
SafeTrip only accesses your location during active trips when you've enabled sharing. We never track you outside of trips.
Automatic Data Deletion
All location data is automatically deleted after your trip ends. You can also delete everything manually at any time.
Link Expiration
Shared links expire automatically when your trip ends. You can also revoke access instantly by rotating or deleting links.
No Dark Patterns
We don't use manipulative design to keep you sharing or collect more data. Every privacy setting is clear and easy to change.
Explicit Statements
For complete clarity, here's what we guarantee:
We do NOT track your location when no trip is active.
We do NOT sell or share your data with third parties.
We do NOT use your location data for advertising.
We do automatically delete location data after trips end.
We do let you delete all your data at any time.
